Redlend Weekly 07

Edition 07 - 7 September 2026

I hope you’ve all had a great weekend.

We spent the weekend at Lake Eppalock with extended family. Its good to sit around an open fire, even if the Victorian weather kept us undercover more than I would have liked.

A beautiful fathers day with my wife and kids, handmade cards and the school fathers day stall gifts always bring me happiness.

As always, I’ve also been working on ways to improve the information and content we provide to our clients. If you haven’t already, have a look at our Instagram page for regular tips, updates and property insights. Our posts have been getting a few views lately so well worth a look.

Mortgage Brokers Hit a New Record

More Australians are choosing mortgage brokers than ever before. Mortgage brokers facilitated a record 81.6% of all new residential home loans during the June 2026 quarter which is the highest market share ever recorded in Australia.

That means more than four out of every five Australians taking out a new home loan are choosing to work with a broker.

The growth has been significant. Broker market share was 77.6% just one year ago and 53.9% eight years ago.

Why are more Australians using mortgage brokers?

With lending policies, interest rates and borrowing requirements constantly changing, finding the right home loan isn't always as simple as walking into your existing bank.

For many borrowers, having someone help navigate the options, compare lenders and understand how different policies may apply to their situation has become increasingly valuable.

The record market share shows that more Australians are choosing to have someone in their corner when making one of their biggest financial decisions and that is exactly where Redlend Home Loans can help.

Mortgage Tip

Don't Just Ask Your Bank

Your bank can only offer you its own home loans.

Before committing to a mortgage, it can be worth understanding how other lenders may assess your income, expenses and borrowing capacity.

Please don't assume a decline, or a lower borrowing limit, from one lender means every lender will give you the same answer.

Different lenders can assess things differently, which is why understanding your options before applying can be valuable and that i the real value of using a mortgage broker
